The second annual Tech Intersections: Womxn* of Color in Computing conference will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Mills College in Oakland, California. The Call for Speakers is open through Monday, October 1, 2018. While spaces at the main conference are reserved for womxn with ethnicities underrepresented in tech (such as African-American, Latinx, and Vietnamese), anyone may attend the associated allies workshop.
The inaugural Tech Intersections conference was held at Mills in January 2018. The keynote speakers were Erica Joy Baker and Leah McGowen-Hare, and the ally skills workshop was led by Y-Vonne Hutchinson. Both events sold out.
This year’s keynote speakers will be Sarah EchoHawk, head of the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, and the CyberCode Twins, America and Penelope Lopez.
We are accepting proposals for talks, panels, and workshops through October 1. Speakers can attend the conference for free, and childcare is free for all attendees. For more information, see: https://2019.techintersections.org/call-for-speakers/
*The term “womxn” is inclusive of cisgender women, transgender women, and femme/feminine-identifying genderqueer and non-binary folks.
